My name is Leslie Sheffield and I am the School Mental Health Therapist at East North Street Academy. I have served as the School Mental Health Therapist at ENSA for 23 years. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Francis Marion University in 1993 and a Master of Arts(MA) from Webster University 2001.
As a Mental Health Therapist, I have experience treating anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, suicidality and related disorders. My approach is strengths based, helping students and families build on their strengths and improve overall functioning. I am trained in the following treatment modalities: art therapy interventions, solution focused interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing skills and trauma focused interventions.
I believe every child deserves a safe, supportive space to explore their emotion and experience. I focus on building trust, coping skills and fostering resilience. By working closely with teachers, families and caregivers, I aim to create lasting support systems that empower children to grow, heal and learn.
